Chute Film Coop is a Den Haag based grassroots film collective with ties to Istanbul, founded in 2021. It emerged from both a shared aesthetic curiosity and a response to the economic and social isolation, alongside the deep hopelessness faced by artists working in alternative cinematic languages, who often encounter barriers to resources, networks, and institutional support. This isolation often arises from a rigid way of thinking and production within the industry that enforces narrow definitions of filmmaking and artistic worth, alienating many creators from the act of making their work.

Collectivism became Chute’s intellectual and practical response to confront and counter this isolation. The collective offers a production ground where personal voices and creative identities can flourish without being confined to a fixed aesthetic or intellectual framework. Here, partnership is not about a single perspective but rather an open space where different cinematic languages coexist and interact.

Today, with nearly 30 members worldwide, Chute grows organically through new encounters in each project. It explores the personal bonds formed between individuals and films, recognizing the intrinsic value of cinema. The collective seeks alternative paths in production and modes of thinking about film. Through curated programs, written publications, podcasts, and screenings, it focuses on alternative cinematic forms and the reinvention of cinematic language.

Chute is dedicated to establishing a theoretical and practical space for those who seek to resist the homogenizing forces of the film industry.
